Canadian
quartet weaves ABBA magic |
KUALA
LAMPUR, JUNE 19, 2002 - Canadian
group ABBA Cadabra thrilled the audience at Holiday
Villa Subang at the recent magic of ABBA concert. In
a packed vintage ballroom, ABBA-Cadabra payed tribute
to the original ABBA by performing a string of their
hits.
With their powerful vocals, Frida (Jeanette O’Keeffe)
and Agnetha (Shannon Storozinski) energetically belted
out evergreen classics like, Voulez Vous, Mama Mia,
Waterloo, Knowing me, Knowing You, Money, Money and
Super Trouper with many among the audience clapping
and singing along. In between, the group slowed down
with such popular hits as The Winner Takes It All, SOS,
Fernando and I Have a Dream.
The
evening fittingly ended with the group’s SUPERB
rendition of Thank-you For the Music. The group repeated
Dancing Queen after the audience called out for an encore.
This is the first time the group is performing in Asia

WHITE
ROCK, BRITISH COLUUMBIA CANADA, November 5 2003 - ABBA
Cadabra began two and a half years ago. We started because
we were such big fans of ABBA’s music and there
was nobody doing it locally then. We didn’t know
what to expect. We were optimistic, but not presumptuous.
We never anticipated that it would be so well received,
says O’Keeffe. A highlight for her was a recent
performance in Malaysia, doing a fundraiser for an abused
women and children’s shelter.
It
has always been a dream of mine to start a centre like
that, and to be able to perform for such a great cause,
in such a beautiful country was incredible, she said.
I can’t believe how popular ABBA is around the
world. Their music seems timeless it appeals to children,
teenagers and to people 80 years old. The act is founded
in respect to the original artists, rather than an impersonation.
We feel it’s almost disrespectful to say you’re
them, or pretend to be them down to the last stitch
of clothing or speaking voice, and we don’t try
to do that, O’Keeffe said. It’s a tribute
to a band that will never tour again. They turned down
a billion-dollar offer to tour. ABBA will never perform
this material again.

WHISTLER
BC, CANADA - AYou’d
be surprised how many ABBA songs sit in the recesses
of your mind. Audiences can expect a great tribute in
the music and magic of ABBA. The show is about a Zen-like
ABBA, rather than a cookie-cutter copy tribute to the
girl with golden hair among other Sewish idols. We’re
not impersonators, but rather think of the show in terms
of how ABBA would great the audience of the new millennium.
The show, which played for 600 at the 2001 Halloween
bash at the Hyatt Hotel in Vancouver, includes two sets
with costume changes and choreography.
ABBA
Cadabra, a tribute show that brings ABBA songs into
the new millennium, will belt-out Gimme Gimme, Dancing
Queen and Fernando, but consider your requests from
a group whose last show included four encores. We’re
excited to be performing in Whistler. They’re
a laid back crowd up here, and they always want to have
a good time
